Airfield Ground Lighting Solutions |
A comprehensive range of services, including installation of airfield lighting, manufacture of constant current regulators and taxiway guidance signs, the design and build of airfield lighting control systems and the provision of training services, underlines the ability of PPC to provide total solutions for airfields, whether civil or military.
Due to the focus on providing a professional high standard of customer service, PPC is increasingly being relied upon to meet and exceed expectations for design, supply, and installation and commissioning of airfield systems for most of our airports. |
AIRFIELD PROJECT SERVICES |
|
| PPC is able to offer our clients a total management service for airfield installations. The capability starts with initial surveys, the creation of a design brief, airside and airfield ground lighting equipment installation using our in-house installation team right through to final testing and commissioning. PPC's project managers work in partnership with our customers to achieve completion of a project within time and cost. The scope of project services provided by PPC includes but not limited to airfield lighting installation; navigational aids installation and commissioning, apron lighting, fixed ground power systems and docking guidance systems. |
AGL CONTROL SYSTEMS |
|
| PPC has been designing airfield lighting control systems for many years and PPC’s system is a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based system which controls the switching of airfield services quickly, reliably and safely. Based on a modular expandable database, it is suitable for applications from regional airports to international hubs, allowing for individual lamp control and monitoring as part of an SMGCS system. They comply with the safety requirements of IEC61508 and is manufactured in compliance with ISO 9001:2000. |
CONSTANT CURRENT REGULATORS FOR AIRFIELD LIGHTING CIRCUITS |
Our state-of-the-art Constant Current Regulators are specially designed for feeding and monitoring airfield lighting series circuits. They are reliable and accurate in regulation and monitoring functions. Thus making it easy for user interface via graphical multi-function display and excellent interfacing possibilities with control systems that are user friendly.
The CCR started as an analogue or digitally-controlled unit and was manufactured in two output sizes, at three current levels of 6.0A, 6.6A or 12A. The product was developed into a microprocessor control device, covering the complete range of transformer sizes from 2.5kVA to 30kVA, with nominal input voltages of 230V, 400V and 440V. The standard output current is 6.6A but the unit can still deliver 6.0A, 12A and 20A to the primary circuit if required.
Each unit has been developed and independently tested to ensure that it complies with all the international standards, including CAP 168, ICAO, IEC 61822, FAA AC NO: 150/5345-10F. |
SPARE PARTS, CABLES AND ACCESSORIES |
Our service support centres facilitate PPC’s ability to provide a total solution to all airports in Nigeria. We pride ourselves of the ability of our service centres to supply a range of spares and replacement parts for all airfield lighting products at reasonable periods.
The range includes AGL fittings, isolating ground transformers, pit furniture, lamps, lenses, filters, gaskets, AGL secondary and primary cables and joints, and various other parts. |
AGL TAXIWAY GUIDANCE SIGNS |
|
PPC provides Taxiway Guidance Signs (TGS) as part of our integrated airport solution. The illuminated airfield sign has been further developed, improving reliability, power efficiency and maintainability whilst reducing the overall life cycle costs.
The Movement Area-Guidance Signs (MAGS) are constructed in two heights, depending on whether they are mandatory signs or information signs. Both types can be supplied with a single fascia or as a double-sided sign with two fascias. The length of the signs is dependant upon the legend to be displayed; however the MAGS are manufactured up to 14 standard lengths to a maximum of 6.2m.
Either style can be illuminated with long-life fluorescent tubes, cold cathode tubes or tungsten halogen lamps, operating from either a 230v AC supply, or an airfield ground-lighting series circuit operating from 2.8A to 6.6A.
The light output is fully compliant with ICAO, FAA, CAP168, JSP 554 and JIS Z 8724 requirements, and can be used on airfields operating under category I, II and III operations. The brilliancy of the sign is optional dependant upon the application requirement, being either a fixed output or a dimmable option determined by the AGL circuit current.
Further products available to compliment the range of Clearway guidance signs are the Illuminated Runway Distance Markers (IRDM) the illuminated Stand Number Indicators (SNI) and non-illuminated retro-reflective signs. |
AIRFIELD MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT |
|
| Following installation, PPC can provide the complete service by offering a comprehensive maintenance package. This can include measurement of photometric performance of installed airfield lighting and the provision of routine maintenance and repairs. |
AGL TRAINING |
|
| PPC offer AGL training courses designed to meet the specific requirements of civil applications. A number of training modules are offered dealing with civil AGL design, maintenance of AGL equipment and airfield electrical safety. These training are usually done in partnership with our OEM partners either here in Nigeria or at their offices overseas. |

|
FEATURES |
|
PPC supplies complete airfield lighting systems and a full range of airfield lighting equipment for airfields. PPC installs and supports products operating with superlative performance and reliability. And all our products are manufactured in strict accordance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) PPC in conjunction with her OEM partners guaranties the highest standard of quality.
For example, the new IDM 8200 Sequential Flash Light System is a direct line providing individual lamp monitoring without the need of capacitors in the flash light units, nor control cabling between the units. Upgrading and additions are at your fingertips, including excellent interface possibilities. All data and parameters can be viewed and set from a multifunction display. The power cables are between units, that way there is no control cables. No high voltage capacitors insure a safer system with less EMI/RFI than comparable equipment. |
